In his illustrious life Mark Twain was able to speak out against the colonial and expansionist policies of the United States. This WWW page is a hypertext resource about the American author and his opposition to the Philippine-American War of 1899-1902. As the vice president of the Anti-Imperialist League for the last ten years of his life, Twain wrote numerous critiques of the war, addressed to both political leaders and American citizens.
